Spa: Sublime Comporta

Partake in sheer luxury as you head off-grid and step inside the wonderful oasis of Sublime. Surrounded by Comporta’s caressing cork trees and sand dunes, Sublime embodies a 17-hectre estate of peace and tranquility. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, as is much of Comporta, the connection to nature is paramount here.

Whether you’re sleeping in award-winning accommodation or sampling mouth-watering menus prepared with on-site grown ingredients, luxury comes in many forms and this resort ticks all the boxes. We couldn’t possibly write about this resort without mentioning the architecture and ethos. As with many of the resorts in the area, inspiration is taken from the local landscape. The owners believe in strengthening luxury tourism and the economy of the area via sustainable efforts. Recycling, a compost plant facility, bio-pools and organic gardens all contribute to this hotel. Here, nature is seen as the ‘foundation of wellness.’

We visited Sublime for the day whilst we were staying as Casa Vigia (read more here). Lovingly curated with relaxation in mind, the spa offers show-stopping wellness from tailored massages to Tibetan mediation classes. We opted for the couples massage and left feeling as though we were floating high above the clouds of Comporta.

Who needs a roller coaster of emotions when you can have a roller coaster of culinary experience? Sem Porta is their main on-site, organic restaurant and one of the best places we’ve eaten. From Iberian Pork to Scarlet Prawn Rice, the flavours take you from one local tradition to another. The price tag reflects the quality, however, all ingredients are local (from the meat to the wine) and they use herbs from their own garden regularly.

The service was also some of the best we’ve experienced. This is your go-to for a culinary journey you won’t forget.
